Case Studies
Department of Civil Service
In April 2005 The Department of Civil Service carried out a strategic assessment of the existing IT Applications and IT infrastructure.
The outcome of this assessment highlighted the need for the DCS and the Government of Abu Dhabi to invest in a new HRMS solution and IT infrastructure.
Our Approach
Injazat Data Systems and the Department of Civil Service have signed a long term contract whereby Injazat manages all of DCS’ day to day IT operations, upgrade its IT infrastructure to meet the vision, and, in parallel, define and develop a revised human resources management system that enables DCS to achieve excellence in its new role.
The purpose of the initial phase of the engagement, which as successfully implemented in 2006, was to improve and stabilize the current operational standards to a level where the IT infrastructure and operations are in line with the DCS business objectives. These services correlate to current and future business requirements of the Civil Services Department. This phase consists of five main activities:
• Implementation of standard delivery processes
• Implementation of the Injazat toolset, such as the Helpdesk and Enterprise Management tools.
• Review of all infrastructure components and develop an upgrade/refresh program.
• Transfer of the IT people from DCS to Injazat.
• Agree on the service levels
In parallel with the infrastructure stabilization and upgrade, Injazat has also been working in partnership with DCS to overhaul the HR automation applications for the Abu Dhabi Government.
The Results
Since DCS and Injazat joined forces, DCS has been able to transform their IT operations to respond to the tremendous changes that DCS is currently undergoing.
Within a few months of DCS outsourcing IT to Injazat, the legacy systems were modified to meet the new business role of DCS. This provided DCS with the ability to start driving change across the government prior to the rollout of new HR systems as outlined in their strategic study.
Injazat was able to almost immediately provide DCS with more value from their systems by helping them produce reports that where the key drivers for re-organization decisions made by the Civil Service Council of Abu Dhabi.
All these improvements were done in the midst of implementing an IT infrastructure upgrade, office move, and the implementation of a new HR system.
DCS’ teaming up with Injazat has resulted in great benefit to DCS as they now have the capacity to ensure that the many Systems and Data needs are met allowing them to focus their energy on making their vision of a new DCS role a reality.
